Mississippi Votes Celebrates Leaders Shaping Mississippi’s Future
Mississippi Votes celebrated a milestone this past Saturday with the Fourth Annual Freedom and Justice Honors Gala at the Jackson Convention Center, bringing together organizers, elected officials, attorneys, and advocates for an evening dedicated to honoring the people shaping Mississippi’s civic future.
The gala paid tribute to the legacy and impact of social change advocates from across the state, organizers, educators, and community leaders whose work has shaped Mississippi’s civic landscape for decades. It was a night built around gratitude, a moment to say thank you and to remind everyone in the room why the work matters and why it continues.
This year’s class of honorees represented a powerful cross section of Mississippi’s legal, legislative, and advocacy communities. Danyelle Holmes, Rep. Fabian Nelson, Amir Badat Esq., Waikinya Clanton, and Arielle Hudson-Vinson Esq. were all recognized for the impact they have made in advancing justice and change throughout the state.

The evening’s program was elevated by incredible talent. Maddrama brought their signature performance energy to the stage, delivering the kind of powerful storytelling and artistry the group is known for. Vocalist Kessey lit up the room with a stunning performance that had the crowd fully locked in. And the entire night was guided with warmth and polish by host Melanie Sanders, whose hosting kept the energy high and the program flowing seamlessly from start to finish.
